Bitcoin

On the list of a long listing of issues facing Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies is adoption. When will crypto are more widely accepted for mainstream activities?

For HODLers and crypto fans alike, the good news could be the adoption trajectory for Bitcoin looks compelling. Looking at the S-curve, which measures adopting new technologies, Bitcoin is right where it should be, according to numerous market observers.

“The S-Curve breaks global adoption into stages along the growth cycle: Innovators, Early Adopters, Early Majority, Late Majority, and Laggards,” writes Greg King of Osprey Funds. “All of the growth occurs through the Early and Late Majority stages. Bitcoin is 12 years young, and it’s much earlier along this curve than gold which has been a Laggard for millennia.”

Issues such as scalability must also be resolved before cryptos gain wider acceptance. Additionally, regulatory hurdles remain, including central banks in certain countries outright banning transactions denominated in cryptocurrencies.

Bitcoin: Trending in the Right Direction

The thought of decentralized currencies goes far beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum. Today, many companies, organizations, and governments are exploring the idea of initial cash offerings, or ICOs.

Companies and currencies occur for around the same purpose: to facilitate the trade of value. Fiat currencies, just as the U.S. dollar, is positively simple compared when compared with the assurance of blockchain and the emerging small economy, which some technologists have got to calling a tool operating system.

“We believe bitcoin is currently in the Early Majority phase as measured by the number of global investors and the full total amount invested to date,” per King. “Marginal dollars will soon be added to bitcoin as adoption continues along this curve, and this is massive. This Adoption S-Curve phase could be the demand force behind Bitcoin’s stellar returns.”

Bitcoin has sometimes been called ‘digital gold, ‘with supporters suggesting it is a good safe-haven investment. However, the cryptocurrency has tended to trade nearer to equity markets in recent times and has been plagued by massive volatility, including making investors’ fortunes or crushing them.

“Today, if you imagine Bitcoin will serve as ‘digital gold, ‘you come in the minority. This is great news for investors,” records King. “Why? Properly, after everyone has followed Bitcoin as a shop of value, the potential outsized gains from investing will diminish. What will we be left with then? Gold-like returns. And how will we all know we are there? Gold-like volatility.”
